Your Session

What should I bring?
Here’s a list of things you might want to have:
  1. Several different outfits
  2. Touch up make-up
  3. Hair accessories, brush & hairspray
  4. For children, bring their favorite toy or blanket
  5. Special or meaningful props you want to include

What should I wear?
It’s important to wear an outfit that doesn’t compete with you. Solid colors that aren’t too bright work really well. Hats and jewelry are always a nice compliments.

Is my input welcome?
I love when a client comes in with the vision of what they like, but if you don’t, that’s ok too. Feel free to bring in any magazine pictures, ideas that you see on TV, etc.

What is the best time of day for a nature session?
An hour after sunrise or an hour before sunset is usually the best time of day for outdoor photos. However, a cloudy day is always good or if there is ample shade available at the location we can meet at a wider range of times.

How long is a session?
This depends on the type of session and the individual. For infants and children, I work with their span of attention, and for newborns it’s important to factor in feeding and diapering. For others, we just have fun and let the time fly!

What about retouching and editing?
We all sometimes have a blemish, scar or maybe even a stretch mark that we don’t want in our picture. This is no problem! Basic retouching is part of the package. Just let me know ahead of time if there is something you don’t want to show in the final product.

Can I bring a friend or relative with me?
Absolutely! But keep in mind that with children’s sessions, too many people can easily distract a child and make it difficult to capture the perfect moment.

When do I pay?
Payment if preferred at the time of the session, but I’m flexible to work with you. I accept cash, checks, and PayPal. I guarantee that you will be 100% satisfied with your portraits or I will refund your money.

Recommended Portrait Schedules
Your infants and children will change the most in the first 2 years, so I recommend the following ages:   Newborn, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 18 months, & 24 months. After age 2, it’s good to get one done at least every 1-2 years.

High School Seniors can be done as early as the spring of their Junior year up until March of their Senior year. Earlier is always better!

Family portraits are best done every 1-3 years and every time a new addition arrives.
